The International School Wassenaar – Rijnlands Lyceum is a relatively new international secondary school and is part of Rijnlands Lyceum Wassenaar. It is a Rijnlands Lyceum Foundation school. The first international students were welcomed in August 2019. We currently have more than 330 students aged 11-18 years from many different countries. We offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) 1 to 5 and as of school year 2024-2025 we offer both years of the IB Diploma Programme (DP).

Currently we have a vacancy at the International Office for an:

Administrative Assistant (0.4 FTE - 16 hours per week)

Start: preferably 1 May 2025 or soon thereafter

Together with the lead administrative assistant, the administrative assistant will be the face and the voice of the school. The first face and voice that prospective parents / guardians may encounter, and will also be the first point of call for students and teachers. Working days: Monday to Friday with the possibility to start at 08:00 am.

Your responsibilities

  • Daily school reception and administration tasks;
  • Processing admissions and guiding new students and parents/guardians;
  • Assisting the Head of School and the MYP/DP Team;
  • Translating school-related documents, predominantly from Dutch to English;
  • Assisting in Communications and Public Relations;
  • Administering school data management systems.

 

Your Profile

We are looking for a warm and welcoming personality with strong interpersonal skills with an international background. The person we are looking for preferably has a secretarial-administrative background, ideally with experience working in an international organization. In addition we are looking for someone who:

  • is a key team player and has the capacity and flexibility to deal with ad hoc situations;
  • is adaptable, pro-active, confident, stress-resistant and eager to learn;
  • has excellent organisational skills and is very accurate;
  • has excellent computer skills (especially MS Office) and a willingness to learn new programmes (ManageBac, SOM, OpenApply);
  • has the ability to speak and write in English at a native level and in Dutch at a near native level; fluency in both languages is preferable;
  • enjoys working in a busy, dynamic international environment and has an affinity to working with children and people from different backgrounds and cultures.

 

We offer you
A temporary contract (initially 6 months) with a prospect of an extension to one year and after this a permanent position. Salary scale 6, based on the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement (CLA Secondary) with a range of € 2.252,00 - € 3.257,00 gross per month. The specific step in the scale depends on the relevant background and experience. In addition:

  • you will be working in an enthusiastic and diverse team of colleagues;
  • you will be working in a bright and spacious office in the new wing;
  • during your break you can stroll from our tree-lined schoolyard into the historic Park Backershagen;
  • you have almost all school holidays off;
  • in addition to monthly salary in scale 6, you also receive 8% holiday payment (May), a 8.33% year-end bonus, an extra year-end bonus of €1200 euros gross (December), an annual 90 hours Individual Choice Budget which you can save or have paid out;
  • we also offer you attractive additional benefits. Think of a travel allowance, an employer’s contribution towards the Dutch ABP pension scheme, our cafeteria scheme: including sports and a bicycle plan and discount on various insurances.
